James Wilcher is one of the golfing industry’s most exciting course architects; and his company, Golf By Design, is known far and wide for creative solutions to complex course design issues. A reputation for excellence and commitment to quality design meant he was a natural choice when it came to the design of Pacific Dune’s spectacular course, with James himself describing Pacific Dunes as his “most exciting course design project”. James’ experience as a course architect is extensive and varied – working for some well known companies in his early career on courses such as Windsor Golf Club (Nagoya, Japan) and various projects in Australia, | Indonesia, Malaysia, India and China, he gained the hands-on knowledge needed to create his own company in 1999. Since then, Golf By Design has created a range of courses, including five-star courses such as Port Bouvard Golf and Country Club (Mandurah, Western Australia) and Top City Golf Club (China).
